s t e p s 1 :
Gather the fabric at tail of the ring sling, pleating (folding) it in fan like fashion. Ensure the edges remain on the outside. Do not worry even if the pleats are not neat.

s t e p s 3 :
Fold the tail back over the top ring and loop it back through the bottom ring.
You may wish to loosen the fabric at the rings slightly, insert both index fingers under the fabric (one at each side) and run your thumbs through the fabric to ensure that the pleats do not overlap.

s t e p s 2 :
Pass the gathered tail through both rings.
s t e p s 4 :
If the rails at the rings are overlapping, you may wish to lift up the rail at the ring, run the rail through your fingers again, ensuring the edge remains at the outer sides of the ring while tightening it again. Do refer to the video. This can be done either before or after putting on the ring sling.
Your ring sling is now ready to be used!

s t e p 1 :
Hold your sling just behind the rings with the tail facing front. If you wish to wear it on your right, hold it with your left hand and vice-versa.

s t e p 2 :
Slip the sling on from over your head and across your shoulder. Make sure that the rings are in front of your collar bone.
s t e p 3 :
Try to spread the fabric wide across your shoulders and back. This will ensure that the weight of your baby will spread evenly.

s t e p 4 :
Form the pouch with your arm, palm and elbow. Always ensure the pouch is lower than the rails to form a deep seat for your baby. It is important that your baby's weight rests on his/her bottom and not on the legs.

s t e p 5 :
Once the pouch is formed, you are ready to carry your baby.
When carrying your baby, you will also want to be sure that the top rail of the ring sling is snug, keeping your baby close to you. This helps to keep your child balanced and prevents him/her from falling out of the ring sling.

s t e p 6 :
Carry your baby high on your shoulder in a burping position.
s t e p 7 :
While securing your baby with one hand, use the other hand to pass through the bottom rail, to hold and position his legs between you and the ring sling. Try to ensure there is no slack at your back. (This helps to prevent the ring from coming downward when adjusting the tail in the last step)

s t e p 8 :
Once the baby is seated inside, you can create a deep seat. This can be done by pulling the bottom rail between his legs up to about the level of his belly button, such that there is some fabric sandwiched in between you and your baby (not shown in picture). Spread the top rail of the ring sling to cover the baby's back.

s t e p 9 :
While holding on to the baby, tighten it by pulling the tail of the ring sling. Tighten the pouch carrying the baby rail by rail.
Adjust to have snug hold by pulling only on the rail that needs to be tightened. In this picture, only the top rail of the pouch is tighten by pulling on the corresponding rail at the tail end.

And we are done!
The rail padding of the Shirokuma Ring Sling Original at the top rail can be used as the neck support for new born, while the rail padding at the bottom rail can be kept or removed based on your preference.
For Shirokuma Ring Sling Lite, neck support for young babies can be created by rolling a towel and tucking it under the top rail (fold the top rail away and downwards).
